People get stuck on the word 'retirement.' All it means is a potentially transformative journey from one stage or dimension to the next. Death is one form of it:)) This is why 'dying while one is alive' is the best way to retire: freeing oneself from past conditioning, past sorrows, past suffering or even even past pleasures...to live anew, fresh and young again.

Delay in retirement when you have sufficient funds and no debts- waste your time
Time is a diminishing unredeemable asset❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Great video. Key to a well lived life would be a life of purpose and fulfillment that will impact other people's lives positively. A lot of people who went into retirement cannot stay long is due to living a life of self centeredness. Nourishing the soul will lasts longer and live happily. The only way to do this is to live a life of giving.

When we are young and studying, our idea of working to earn an income is to use that income to have freedom, freedom to pay for our own wants that our parents are not willing/able to. When we actually started working for a long time, then we crave freedom to have time, or choice of time usage. When we retire, we sort of freedom will we desire? Probably none, because it is there already for us to take. 100% of it is there on the table for us. So we have to desire new things to keep us active. It can be a health goal (e.g. being able to do 20 pull ups), a new financial goal (make another $1m from investments), a new skill goal etc, and all these are paid with our new found freedom of time and resources.

In this universe now, employees look for money and learning new skills, and job mobility is the bane.

I semi-retired when I was 45yo and I went to live in Tokyo for 2 years and coincidentally during covid time. It was one of the best decision I made as the experience is something money can't buy. Now at 52yo I am fully retired and m looking forward to even more traveling to add more colors to my life stories.

I would say that early retirement works for this couple due to their ability and good fortune to make the right investments at the right time. It is not a formula applicable to everyone as some people would have children, they need to take care of and support till they are employed or aged parents. There is a certain satisfaction in doing a job well, so some may continue to work as it gives them personal satisfaction and a sense of identity.

Retirement as far as I can see to them is travelling, eating and making videos to encourage more people to retire early. If that give meaning to their life, then it works for them, however perhaps only 30% of Singaporeans are financially ready and prepared for retirement. For a majority of people especially men who retire, death may await at the corner, cos they lose their sense of worth, identity and purpose. So maybe they can address how they find meaning and purpose in their retirement, however their meaningful purpose may not be other people's meaningful purpose. For woman, they may find purpose in taking care of their grandkids, how to do that when they're constantly travelling? Different strokes for different folks for sure.

I have senior colleagues who are in their 70-80 years old, who are dedicated to their jobs. This is admirable.
I agree- i chose to stop work early at the time of my choice, rather than being dedicated to a career
