Having a PET-CT scan

One of a series of films we produced to help patients, their families and carers learn more about some of the most common tests and procedures used to diagnose and treat blood diseases.

I have a Petscan/Ct scheduled along with a MRI & CT of my brain, cervical, lumbar & thoracic spine of all of these. I just completed a Spinal Xray series.

I have a question regarding when a CT scan is performed. Is it necessary for the gantry to rotate around the body to get the images required. or can your body be scanned by just having the body be moved back and forth into the machine while holding your breath .Also is there a light that comes on.

i had a c.t. scan today... got hot for about 45 minutes then it went away..
it was very easy... done within 20 minutes... not like a mri which can take a lot longer...

I’ve had this done in 2016. I got hot, hot, hot as I went through the machine. No other effects. Didn’t take long and the machine operators put me at ease - this can be perturbing if you’re not used to these kinda places. Don’t worry if you’ve gotten to this video because you’re gonna have this gallium scan.
