I'd imagine the water would leak out of the holes, so the base effectively has the same/similar volume. I wouldn't bother with the holes, don't think they're necessary. Good design otherwise though!

Well done. Great iterative design. Massive improvement on v1, and thank you for incorporating my suggestion for the saucer / water pan vents.

Ooo, excited to see the update! 💖 I like what you did for the saucer!

A few ideas:

▪︎ You may find the water in the red compartment becoming stagnant & even contaminated with fungi or algae (the spores are in the soil, can be blown in the wind, or even transferred by animals), so having a lid seems be a good idea (perhaps with an extendable spout to pour in a controlled manner).

▪︎ Depending on what type of plant you want to grow in the planter, you could have the water in a gravity-fed drip system. There are several designs I've seen using a 3D printed "spike" (perforated with tiny holes for the water to escape) that can be screwed onto a normal 600ml plastic drink bottle (or a more aesthetic 3D printed container) which dribbles out a steady supply of water into the soil.

▪︎ I'd also mention that while the red water container is nice, imo it takes away from the aesthetic purpose of the planter. I view a plant pot as being the equivalent of a picture frame; there to complement & display the beauty of the subject within, whether a painting within its frame, or a plant within its pot. That doesn't mean that the pot can't have any aesthetic potential of its own (you only have to look at the many styles of picture frames to see that), just that it should preferrably complement & not detract from the exquisite natural beauty of the plant being displayed within it. In your case, you've chosen a minimalist white for your pot, so adding the red pail is kind'a distracting.

▪︎ Have you considered better integrating the legs of the support frame into the sides of the pot? Printing the pot with four grooves spaced for the legs to slot into would be interesting, but you could extend this idea even further by modifying the shapes of the legs to conform to the curve of the cylindrical shape of the pot. Perhaps even change the legs to be more of an extruded wedge shape (like a slice of pizza, a triangle with one curved side) & deepen the socket to fit. You may also need to reinforce the stress points where the cross-piece meets each of the vertical rods, so that when the plant grows bigger (& heavier), it can withstand the extra weight.

Look up a Pythagorean cup that never allows things to be too full. Bet that would help with overwatering. And to maybe make the well not get stagnant- add a second level with p trap and make it self-flush like a toilet tank.

Oh dude you should’ve made it a self water side panel. Not just something you take out to manually water. Use a Bell Siphon method you can easily print buddy!! Look into Bell Siphons and you’ll be pleasantly surprised 😊

small gap for ventilation is better than holes, I think

Print the x shape as two separate pieces that slot together, you’ll have a lot more strength and slightly less assembly! Lookin good tho :)))

You made a "deeper" tray, but those holes make it shallow. I have over 100 plants. I'm not taking this water compartment out for every plant.I'lll just use my watering can (or bottom water) for all 100 plants. I don't want standing water all around my house, which will inevitably get dirt and bugs in it.

What if you made a long slit in the watering can so you just lift it up a little bit each time you water and some dumps in

And is a square&stackable version possible? so one could place a few plants side by side on a windowsill or along a window

O, o How watertight is everything?
Isn't it porous due to the layers?

You're over watering that plant. That's why you had to cut off the ugly leaves before making the video.
