That reminds me of a moment I had back in University.

My white collegues were discussing some topics when the topic of “white oppressor” came up - though brief they essentially said that whites deserve to be downgraded and shoved aside in society.

As a brown man who’s parents were immigrants, I cringed and shook my head. It was just that moment though, it was never brought up again lol.

No joke: I was at a small Halloween party with people like this. I was invited by someone I had just started working/volunteering with and she is African American. There were two white ladies there besides me. One of them deadass said, 'Oh, well sometimes you just gotta get away from white people, " when our host talked about her family member moving to a different state away after someone else in his family had died tragically. It made 0 sense, but it was a thing that was said that I cannot unhear. Our host didn't question it, though, but I don't remember her looking very flattered or outright agreeing-- just kind of went on with her family turmoil. Also, the person who said that may/may not have been a recently out they/them, and when I asked why she changed her pronouns, and she deadass said, "Because I could."

This is one of the main things that really confused me when I first came to this country. Can no one be happy and proud of who they are anymore? So many people act like victims here, when they aren't at all. It's a really sad thing to see in a country that has so much natural beauty and many kind, compassionate people in it too. But unfortunately a lot of the people are idiots who can't see past their own delusional thoughts / propaganda.
