Looking to upgrade your solar energy monitoring system but don’t have modern LiFePO4 Batteries with Bluetooth capability? You don’t need to upgrade your batteries.

The Battery Shunt 300 is specifically designed for communication between the Renogy ONE Core monitor and any deep cycle battery, regardless of brand name or chemistry. This small piece of equipment finally provides the wireless link between older lead acid batteries (flooded, Gel, AGM) and non-Bluetooth capable LiFePO4 batteries with the latest generation of wireless remote monitors. So, you can upgrade your monitoring system without having to upgrade your batteries…yet!

The Battery Shunt 300 and the Renogy ONE Core allow you to monitor your battery level, your solar charging input, your current energy usage, in addition to many other features from anywhere, anytime. So long as your Renogy ONE Core has a wifi connection, you can connect wirelessly anywhere your smartphone has a data signal, through the DC Home App. Connect the Core monitor to the smart devices and you’ll have an off-grid smart home that can monitor security, energy and temperature from anywhere.

Review
We got this shunt back in the Fall 2023, to install and product test. While we initially had problems connecting the shunt to the Renogy ONE Core, due to a firmware issue. After doing the steps below we got it up and running. Since then it's been working and reporting data back to the Core without problems.

Since this was just for testing purposes we kept our BT-2 module connected to our LFP Smart Batteries, so that we could check on accuracy.

Here's what we found:
1. The Shunt is performing as expected, and reporting the data back to the Core monitor seamlessly.
2. We noticed a discrepancy between the shunt and BT-2 module in reporting battery SOC% (up to 8% discrepancy). The BT-2 module gets its data from the BMS which is more accurate than the shunt that predicts the state of charge based on the measured voltage.
3. The latest firmware fix now allows the Battery Shunt to default to the Core home screen. If it doesn’t do this automatically, go to “Settings” and then choose “System,” then change the SOC Source Setting.

For anyone having connection issues between the Renogy ONE Core and the Battery Shunt 300, try manually updating the firmware by doing the following:
- Go to Settings
- System
- About
- Check for updates
- Update

When the Core restarts, click Add Device, then pairing with the shunt should be immediate. Remember the Core will have to be connected to Wi-Fi in order to do this.

THANK YOU. Could not find information on this ANYWHERE online and the shunt just disappeared along with their Lithium 200AH Bluetooth connected battery. I was really bummed because I invested in a One M1, and Rover MPPT controller. After buying the M1 a few weeks later the CORE came out. I planned to have the whole system talking as its crucial I monitor my system while away. Then the battery dropped offline, then the smart shunt dropped. THEN I found out the smart shunt was not compatible with the One M1. All of this I almost sold off everything Renogy and went 100% Vivtron...I went ahead and just purchased a PowerQueen 200AH LifePo and this has yet again peaked my interest. I'll pull the trigger once I know a Firmware update for the M1 will allow the shunt to work with it.

Awesome update and video! Not sure if you are experiencing this issue with the shunt. But over the course of the 3 days the shunt will not change the battery % to reflect accurately after days of sun and minimal use. While the charge controller says charging the shunt will read discharging lol. Very frustrating. Any thoughts on this

Thanks for the update! I had one on order and after not hearing anything about it for a couple weeks, I called renogy and they said they had pulled it from the market and then refunded my money.
I was bummed that I'm going to have to wait longer, and that they never informed me it was pulled until I called them about it ☹️

I'm waiting for my shunt to be delivered & was wondering if the status now shows on the home screen?

I was able to get one with the re-release. Was able to get it to work with my One Core and DC Home App. So I decided to try out their online portal and I can see the One Core and my Rover making power, but the shunt does not show up. Very frustrating.

Interesting. I just upgraded my old generic shunt to the Renogy 500A battery monitor w/ shunt. I have a campervan I built so it's a nice upgrade.
I might put my old shunt back in since I have the display built in. Can't find any information about having 2 shunts within a single 12v system.

I ordered one back in Nov on Black Friday. I was worried when I called customer service when their response was they can refund it. But instead I stuck it out. Then suddenly a week later in early January it was shipped! Install went ok but my Home Screen on the ONE app doesn’t say anything. I have to select the shunt or the DC DC controller to get a display with data. I guess the firmware update will solve the problem. Good news however was the WiFi connectivity. We were in Colorado skiing and I could open the app and it connected!

Thank you for making this update on the Shunt 300.
I'm not sure the Renogy Legal Team wanted the public knowing about the nonsense with Victron and how they think they own the word " Smart "
when really the only name Victron truly owns is
OVERPRICED and UNDERQUALITIED
LOL

GO RENOGY GO !!!!

This shunt from Renogy is FAR better than the so very very limited Victron kinda Smart shunt
Even comparing them side by side lets you see the True Grit differences.
Renogy is on their way to being the BIGGEST & BEST name in Solar and Renewable Energy products for off grid comfort gear in the Industry.
Keep up the Great Videos on Renogy Gear folks !!

Cheers !

1-29-24 Update: Firmware for the CORE update was delayed last week -- new schedule is 1-30-24 . Firmware version number for the Core is V1.1.87.
With new version you will be able to select where the SOC (state of charge) data on the home screen is coming from, though it defaults to "Both Battery & Battery Shunt."
Do the following:
Go to Settings
System
SOC Setting
(Then select what data you wish to appear on home screen)

I regret buying this shunt, it's been so unreliable, it refuses to talk to the One Core controller, keep dropping off from DC Home, needs resetting on a daily basis I contacted Renogy support and was told it wont work with a non Renogy battery !!, then they said you can't use it as a standalone product and you have to buy a One Core panel to use it !!, this was completely incorrect as I pointed out in their own user manual it can be used with any brand of battery, I am using this in a second vehicle with a Li-Time as a standalone through DC Home and all it's been is trouble, latest is a red light flashing and can't find out why, there was a firmware update to One Core a few days ago and not it doesn't talk to One Core anymore, IMO don't waste your money on this it just going to cause you headaches.
