Your are a source of positive energy Sir.

I don't whether you muster the smile for the video sake or it's just your way of life.

Everything eventually becomes bread and circus. You can only grow so much before you reach a peak, then pushing past the peak does more damage than good.

The best thing about Bread and Circuses is Flavius' fabulous physique. I should know, I am his widow!

King Osric was right in Conan The Barbarian...I know it for myself...I can eat whatever I want, have ice cream any time of the day, go to bed whenever I feel like it, sleep in, watch the clock on the wall, have plenty of disposable income, spend 3 days or longer on the internet in one session, have all the cool electronic gadgets to play with...yet it feels like the flip-clock calendar is constantly stuck on September 10, 2001..."There comes a time when all of the gold and jewels stops looking shiny and wonderful, and instead you want friends and experiences instead." So basically I have a very large lead in the game and I'm just trying to run down the clock until February 10, 2110 at 9:57 PM when the solar lap counter goes to -128 after displaying +127.

I think this video is Bread and Circuses. The concept of the Roman Bread and Circuses was to distract the plebs in order to rig the system at the expense of freedoms for the common man. People try to do things that are meaningful to them, but are still hit with bureaucracy, ie the riggings of the system. It's a feedback loop. The things you say are nice ideally, but are only useful to those that are mindlessly seeking entertainment. What about the little person that has never owned a television, but is still burdened by a broken system? Which Rome essentially was at that period. Also, this video on Bread and Circuses left out the Bread part, which is pretty important. Free stuff that isn't really free ie social services, military industrial complex, dependency on the state, etc. The very pillar the Circuses rely on. Once the bill comes the system collapses. Just Like Rome.
