Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

Pay attention to the wording Howard uses when announcing Chuck leaving HHM. I didn't pay attention to it at first but now watching back he basically fired Chuck. "Leaving the firm. Effective Immediately." WOW what a power move

Chuck's arrogance led him to this. He won his lawsuit but morally lost. The winner takes it all.

Chuck didn’t want to be treated like a child. And yet he blew a hissyfit about stepping down, threatened to sue HHM as a bluff, got his bluff called and was kicked out the door.

Funny that no one ever really knew the truth as to why Chuck left. The man was going to destroy his own firm leaving them all jobless out of spite.

I like how Howard beat Chuck at his own game. Nothing illegal, nothing underhanded like Jimmy and Kim did. Just gave him the “win” knowing it’d be meaningless.

The actor who portrays Chuck is so good, you can see him hold his tears when looking down to the employees of HHM, followed by a smug try of pretending to be calm and holding his anger and frustration. Love this show :)

1:40 Howard's smile disappeared. It actually made me feel for him tbh. Had to take out loans and make sacrifices to make the decision that's best for the firm, and even then let everyone congradulate and let Chuck leaves on a high note despite being basically betrayed by him.

Probably one of the few best things Howard has ever done, Chuck totally deserves that, no hosting a party or leaving something behind to remember him by, just announcing that he was leaving and never coming back it was pretty satisfying watching Chuck trying to hold in his suprised and angered reaction at Howard’s actions

A small detail though. Im quite certain not everyone in the crowd is clapping to give chuck a warm farewell.

Howard's first option to Chuck is to become partner Emeritus, where he'd still have his name at the firm but focus externally on other works.

Surely some employees must have understood the tension when Howard said that one of the founders of the firm was "leaving, effective immediately" rather than becoming Partner Emeritus.

The more i rewatch clips from this show, the more I realize how hard Howard worked to keep everyone afloat around him, often at his own expense. This was one moment where he finally stopped catering to Chuck's needs for the sake of the firm and it still didn't bring him any personal satisfaction. Though I disagree with how he treated Kim in the beginning of the show, at the end of the day, Howard was one of the few characters who wasn't enormously self-centered...which makes him all the more tragic

This is almost worse than being walked out by security. Chuck said he was a formidable enemy, he underestimated what an enemy Howard could be.

Howard’s “do you have anything you want to say?” Was such a power move. Chuck either had to go along with the narrative Howard provided or tell the entire firm that looked up to him that he almost put them all out of a job. Silence really was the best thing he could do, but the most punishing at the same time.

My absolute favorite Chuck moment is when he hits his head at the copy shop.
