Better Call Saul is the prequel to the award-winning series Breaking Bad, set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and often against, Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut (Jonathan Banks), a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts "criminal" in "criminal lawyer."

"He had a lot of get-up and go. He was a hard worker." That's Howard right there. Honest to a fault. Even when lying or skewing the truth would help the case, he still plays it straight.

Howard Hamlin is the most tragic story in ALL of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. He had no horse in the game, no want to beat any system he didn't need too cause he was good enough to just be good enough. What a magnificently written character top to bottom.

The oh so subtle “you got me” side smile Howard gives after asked who the other Hamlin is is a complete testament to Patrick Fabian’s grasp of this role

I like 2:15 so much. Kim has him cornered and the slightest smile shows he is kind of proud of her and the growth she made since she started as a law student at his firm. The acting/cast and attention to detail in this show are Incredible.

There's something about Howard's voice that just commands respect and trust....could very well be a good salesman if he wasn't a lawyer

'Who is the other Hamlin?'
She really got him there, huh. Even Howard looked somewhat impressed.

The sad thing about Howard is he always wanted be a solo practitioner, like Jimmy. But his father put him in HHM.

i love Howard. outside of being a snob he's really not all that bad a person, we just don't like him cause he's straight lace in a world where we cheer for the bad guys lol.

The fact that Howard speaks highly of Jimmy on the first question of the character analyst. God he’s such a good dude. He always saw the best in people but Jimmy just took it too far.

Sad now seeing how genuine Howard's compliments towards Jimmy were

I love that Kim smiles as she asks what Howard’s opinion of Jimmy was. She knew he would answer honestly and positively about Jimmy

The worst thing about Jimmy (and Kim) treating Howard bad is Howard always looks like he liked Jimmy. Even in this scene, Howard was the one who gave the nickname "Charlie Hustle". At the very least Howard wasn't against Jimmy working as a lawyer (Chuck who denied it), in the board scene Howard always asked Jimmy opinion if he felt he was uncomfortable with a particular decision, and Howard later on invited Jimmy to work at HHM.

Anyway, I hope Jimmy-Kim plot against Howard fails miserably, he deserves better..

Some people are so clueless that they still think, after 5 seasons, that Howard is a bad guy. He and Mike are the most decent substantive characters

“Which partner was the most concerned with nepotism” I could watch that part a million times and never bore of it. The delivery. Perfect.

"...he was hired by Davis & Main, I'd be happy to talk more about that, if you like."

Interesting counter by Howard to try to cut into Kim's attempt to paint Jimmy as a hard, upstanding Lawyer lol, even though she didn't pursue that line of thought the jury had to have heard something about how that job went for Slippin Jimmy =P

It’s absolutely surreal and tragic that Howard is buried underneath Gus’ lab that Walt would eventually work in. Just buried and almost forgotten.
It’s tragic for him. He deserved so much better!
Thank you Patrick Fabian!

In a show full of memorable episodes and an episode full of memorable scenes this one still manages to stand out for me. (They all do) Patrick Fabian is so And Howard looks honestly kinda proud of Kim on the whole nepotism thing.

1:05 that tiny detail of the jacket buttoning is great. Telling Howard through her body language that she's neither taking this case lightly nor is she letting her personal relationship with him hold her back. Bravo Vince
