In the research I got it confused with Elmwood, Nebraska which fits the distances I mentioned. The program for free land IS in Elwood though. Three years ago, I purchased 20 acres of land south of Gallup NM. for $15K. BEAUTIFUL LAND. Epic vistas, with Mule deer and Elk. Even had a natural pond on it. Planned to retire there, but sold it when my plans changed. These spots are out there. I recommend using a Real estate agent and ask him or her what is the oldest listing you have? There you will find a motivated seller...

I have 5 acres in Colorado way out in the middle of nowhere. North of Albuquerque, south of Denver, off I-25. The taxes are less than we spend on dinner 🍽️ in the DMV.

Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee, West Virginia, Georgia, or Eastern Kentucky, and maybe the Carolina mountains are the place to go off grid

Arkansas also has the only diamond mine in Murfreesboro. The only one in the US. You keep what you find. It also has a lot of festivals, watermelon, duck etc.

I have 2 properties in the Arizona mountains.
So i can have privacy and live the way i want to live.
Friends can stay at one property, put their rv's or travel trailers on it.
The other property is for my family only.

Desert land is an opportunity. Technology advancement in rain catchment, atmospheric generatoor, Smart septic and solar power can create opportunities where you dont need wells or municipal water.

I’m literally in the middle of my first actual real estate transaction . I’m getting a quarter of an acre out in New Mexico. After that I plan to buy some more as I save money.
