When Korea first adopted the western timezone in 1908, it used this so-called Pyongyang time. After Korea's division, the South also used this timezone from 1954 to 1961. Perhaps a tad inconvenient in commerce/business, but countries like Australia, Canada, and India use half-hour timezones too, and this is the geographically correct timezone for the Korean peninsula.

Pyongyang is the center of Korean peninsula. So, South Korea should abandon Tokyo time and adopt Pyongyang time. It will start unionization of Korean peninsula.
