I love my DJI Flip. It's my first drone, and me and my kids are having a lot of fun making YouTube videos of our adventures.

8:41 I shoot mostly stills of engineering projects and use the drone handheld many times rather than break out my camera. Or just fly it at above head level (8-10 ft) to get that usually overlooked point of view.

I bought this thing to fly! Going to fly that bad boy in Sport mode and return as late as possible. Sure, I might have to replace a battery once in a while :)

Thanks for all the tips and insight Russ.
I’m from the time where you had to watch your battery voltage, I’m so glad there’s smart batteries now !

I have thought about the handheld option, but never put it to use. Thanks!!! Looks great.

Great video. I have been using my drones handheld since I got my first P3P in 2015. Works great!

Wow, great to hear someone finally answer my battery questions! Mainly the number of cycles, as many of mine have about 40-50, for my Mini 4’s and Avata 2. Trying to work on my 107, especially as I have a road trip coming up in a month, and would love to be able to catch some fun works cross-country at some archer’s place on the way. Along with the vast spaces between Northern CA and Cheyenne, WY! Thanks a bunch! Stay Great!🇺🇸

If my drone ever gets released by CBP I'll use these. 👍

Thanks for the handheld tip - it makes so much sense.

DId a 'hand held' drone video for a friend. His brother rode in the back of my truck holding my Air 3 and recording my friend in his truck as we drove at *** mph down a dusty road. Created some amazing footage but I made sure my name was not associated with such crazy behavior. Still, it was good to discover how a drone could be use to record in a hand held scenario.

First off, I really appreciate all your videos and been a long time watcher. Having said that I’ve been flying DJI drones for 16 years and have owned somewhere between 12 and 14 of them. I have contemplated getting the part 107 but honestly, I don’t like the government intrusiveness that goes along with it. I wish they could somehow revamp the certification. I just don’t like government involved in any part of my life that’s not necessary, but more than likely that will never change.

What an educational contribution, I have already learned a lot and taken it with me as advice in my beginning drone hobby with my Mini 4 pro.
Thank you very much, kind regards from the Netherlands.

Thanks Russ. Wonderful video as usual.

One thing I would add: using RTH deliberately is a terrible habit in my opinion. It allows complacency, especially regarding flying over people/moving vehicles. And of course, there are thousands of stories of RTH gone wrong. Why not use the opportunity to hone those piloting skills while ensuring you are not violating the reg's?

Part 107 pilots can now get laanc through air control for zero altitude sectors and get approved for higher altitudes than the listed max in sectors .

What a great idea about the hand held stabilized camera idea!

Good tips, Russ! It doesn't hurt some of us supposed seasoned pros to hear these reminders once in awhile, either.

The flip is also good for flying over people and moving cars since it is under 250 gm and the props are protected.

I actually have thought about hand holding my drone while filming houses. Glad to know I wasn't alone with this or that I'm not crazy.

Great tips Russ, thanks! I especially liked the “drone as hand-held camera” idea, why didn’t I think of that before? What a dummy. My Mini 4 Pro is essentially a flying gimbal-mounted camera platform, so why not use it that way? Plus, you can make your own motor sounds if you want!
