There is also an issue with special characters, like the fancy kind usually produced by garbage software like MS Word. (' ... and others), those prevent Premiere to load the full file. In all honesty, this is Premiere's fault, it handles the SRT import very badly and does not indicate what was wrong. It can also render the line and render a block in place of the problem character.

Thank you for your solution!!
It worked for me, but in my case is there is an (enter) in the srt file

5
00:00:09, 300 --> 00:00:12, 800
and will officially implement it in
2025

The space before "2025" is the problem.
The correct format is

5
00:00:09, 300 --> 00:00:12, 800
and will officially implement it in 2025

For me, a similar problem came from a srt file having discontinuity in the timecodes. More precisely, for some reason in the first subtitle that doesn't display, the time code indicates that the text should be on the screen from lets say from 31 min 50 sec to 31 min 48 sec. So the time should travel backwards, and that doesn't apparently fly with premiere pro. :D Subtitles were created by a software, so some kind of glitch has caused it.

great, i did not know the coma issue... still, there is another reason... if after text there is not a single line empty, but a double empty line or when the ascii is not the right one: LF, CR o NL

I'm having this program and everything is perfect. what's wrong? and why can't Premiere REFRESH an SRT file smh

Good Stuff! For me it wasn't a comma, it was that the code jumped to 00:00:000 for some reason. Idk what kind of program would make such an error or if it was a human mistake - really glad to fix it tho.

If you did a srt directly on a subtitling software, there is no comma missing and still this problem happened!

Similar problem here. My SRT looks correct in Text Edit but in Premiere, all I get are chunks of text instead of a million little captions. I have like 7 blocks of text that look like paragraphs. Any idea what the issue might be?
