✏️ *CORRECTION CORNER* ✏️
• East of Eden is not set in the deep south... I mixed the setting up with The Grapes of Wrath.

• Thanks to kind commenters, I realized i said “labyrinth” wrong and have probably been accidentally saying it wrong my whole life RIP 😩😩

Thank you to the kind commenters who pointed out these mistakes. Just wanted to pin this comment to let people know the right info!

House of leaves is hard to put your finger on, it's more unsettling than anything else. But the feeling of finishing it is very satisfying and you will never forget the book

If you liked Shadow of the Wind, read The Angel's Game!!! Seriously it gives so much depth to the story, you get so connected to the characters.

Yes! An update video would be great!! This makes me want to make a video on the books I have that are 500+ pages too! I’m currently working on The Brothers Karamazov which is 1000 pgs approx, so I think it would be interesting!!

500 pagers don't feel like long books if you're a fantasy fan

I got hooked on John Steinbeck because of Mumford&Sons music.

The Cementery of Forgotten Books turned out to be kind of a series so if you enjoyed The Shadow of the Wind I highly recommend you to read the others. The Angel's Game is a prequel and so is The Prisoner of Heaven, however the last book, El laberinto de los espiritus(I'm not sure what the english translation is) wraps the previous three books and it set years after The Shadow of the Wind, it's absolutely spectacular and the perfect ending to Daniel's and the Cementery's story.

I bought House of Leaves 7 years ago when I was in one day I'll get around to reading it!

The audiobook for the Lies of Locke Lamora was really really good!

I've tried reading House of Leaves before. It's already an intimidating book just because of the length and format but once I started reading it, it didn't take long for me to feel eerie and unsettled! I think I only got like 60-70pgs in and then got distracted by other books. I really should try to read it again, it's such an intriguing book!

East of Eden is my favorite book, I love it so much! I found it was a pretty quick read, despite the length. I actually had to force myself to put it down so I didn't finish it too quickly.

Lies of Locke Lamora is something I really need to get to this year. It's been on my TBR for a while. I have no problem picking up long books; the problem is picking between all the books I want to read. Something always gets pushed backed. I put off House of Leaves indefinitely, not because it was creepy, but because I just could not deal with the formatting. So frustrating.

I want to read some more long books as well this year, then I heard about it on the Books Unbound podcast and I knew it was meant to be. This year I want to finish Special Topics in Calamity Physics, City on Fire and House of Leaves.
I do want to read Carlos Ruiz Zafon's books someday.

I actually love long books. I'm working on Way of Kings now and loving it. I have Lies if Locklamora as well but havent picked it up yet. I also have really been loving the Wheel of Time series and all of them are so long.

I feel like I could hear you all day! How mesmerizing it is to see a young girl of your age to choose such sensible, mature books always. Keep going ❤️

I don't know if I'm late to this, but I would say The Angel's Game is not a sequel nor a prequel. There are four books in the series and you can read them in whichever order you prefer. All of the stories are interconnected even though they occur in different periods of time. The author says that each book is a door to the cementery of forgotten books and you can pick the one you like best. I think if The Shadow of the Wind is one of your favorite books, you will really like the other three. It's my favorite series and author of all time (RIP Carlos Ruiz Zafón).

I really want to read The Lies of Locke Lamora - but I didn't realise it was so long! I've also been interested in East of Eden for a while because I've enjoyed other Steinbeck books I've read.

I agree, I use to sell used books, I had two copies of this book at different times. I tried to read it, but it creeped me out!!! I sold both copies and was glad to get rid of them. I never picked up another copy again!

I'm a massive classic film fan, so I'm glad to see East of Eden and Karina Longworth's book on your TBR. I've read both and they're excellent! Longworth's book reads exactly like an episode of her podcast, so don't let the size of the book intimidate you. East of Eden is best read in spurts (and slowly, don't rush it). The film is quite different.
