I have 2022 Jeep Compass with a 2.4 tiger shark with lots and lots of miles on it.
I use factory oil filters and a high grade synthetic oil. The multi air system needs
clean oil. Doesn’t use a drop of oil. Change my oil every four thousand miles.

Had a Toyota RAV4, put 400, 000 miles on it with no issues until a few problems that caused it to fail inspections, and after 25 years the parts couldn't be found to fix it gave Honda Accord a try; 100, 000 miles on it with no issue so far; would never buy an American, or Korean car...or a Volkswagen.

Toyota or Honda, that's the mantra for any new car choice. I had a Prius which I put 205K miles on before it was totaled. A 2011 hybrid model that was still charging 85% on its big lithium battery more than 13 years old. I had a few minor repairs over the life of the vehicle but mostly it was just oil changes and brake jobs.

With the Mini engine also Citroen, Peugeot, BMW. Chains stretch and turbos blow because of extra long oil changes, which were 15, 000 miles now changed to 3- 5000 miles. Oil burns at about a pint for every 1500 miles. High Pressure Fuel Pumps fail every 30-50, 000 miles. Thermostat needs to be changed every 20-30, 000 miles. Due to direct injection, needs to be carbon cleaned every 40, 000 miles. Once you know all the problems and do preventative maintenance, its barely passable. The parts are reasonably cheap, but the labour involved is taxing, if you are a DIY person its fine, if you are not better give these cars a miss.

normal life of the early LS GM engines will go 400k plus without issue with regular maintenance and I had a few in my business
