I thought this trick didn't work correctly at first for all combinations of favorite number choices. Then I realized that the LAST instruction that "you" have to give your "friend" varies depending on the number that "you" chose. You need to tell your friend to subtract an amount equal to 10 minus the number that you chose. So if your number is 1 (for example) you tell your friend to "Subtract 9" (because 10 - your number = 9). And if your # is 3 you must tell your friend to "Subtract 7" ... and so on. You can do this on the last instruction to your friend because you know what your number is even though your friend does not. If you do this the trick will work with any combination of numbers from 1 - 9 that you and your friend choose.

LOL. I'm surprised at the number of people who are confused by simple addition, subtraction, and multiplication. They would be horrified to know that there are similar versions of this that use *gasp* dvision also. Oh the horror! Super trick, bro. And despite all the criticisms, great explanation also. This is exactly the kind of trick I was looking for, and had not seen before either.

It is a simple maths trick
Which act as ... Any two digit number say "xy" can be written as - 10x + y

Try this trick with any number
You tell with your he choose a number with his mind ex =
He choose 2 after he choose you tell 2+, 2*, 1+, 5* and 25-like he choose 2
2+2=4, 4*2=8, 8+1=9, 9*5=45
45 - 25 =20 after and 20 you with your friend you choose your mind 2 how (first number 2and second number is 0) you do not choose second number you always say your friend first number

Multiply by 9
Add both the digits of the number
Minus 4
The answer will always be 5

Nice trick
If friend takes number 'a' then after performing the above operations we get form:
(2a + 2) × 5
=10(a+1)
= 10(a) + 10
Now the friend's slip represent number at tens place value, so we need not worry.
Our slip represent unit place value, so we tell to subtract number 'b' at last such that sum of (no. written by us + b) =10
Eg. If I write 4, I will ask my friend to subtract 6 at last.

Suppose they chose 4
Now ask them to multiply it by 9
4×9=36
Now ask them to add the one's place digit to the ten's place one
3+6=9
Answer will always be 9 no matter what number they choose

I.E.- 1×9=9, 9+0=9
2×9=18, 8+1=9
3×9=27, 2+7=9
4×9=36, 3+6=9
5×9=45, 4+5=9

Another way that always works is to do that but instead of 10 take away ur number do -4. But at the begining u must ALWAYS choose the number 6
