I ways come back to your videos when I have to work on my kid's transmission. Doing all the tests on solenoids, and found it was the harness that had given up the ghost.

The Best VW solenoid troubleshooting video on the internet! Full marks! Excellent diagnosis and follow through. Thank you Sir. (uh, I hesitate to add, it's "Open Line" for future reference. I'm an electrician, not a mechanic.)

Thank you for the great video sir.
I have been experiencing similar problems with my 2000 VW Golf with 01M automatic transmission. The car only has 130 000 km on it. I am getting P0740 (Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit) fault code. This video is going to be a great help for me.
God bless you.

I seen you old post on tdi forum. I own a shop too and do a lot of these old tdi’s. Last fall my personal golf started to have bad converter shutter and I rebuilt the valve body a year prior. Only code was for converter mechanical fault. I figured it probably needs a converter it does have 300k on it but My shop was so busy I had no time to check it out. I put on a few thousand miles and the shutter got really bad so I scanned it again still just converter mechanical fault. On the way home it went into limp mode so I scanned it and it was a solenoid code. It had the normal 5-6 ohms cold and 50+ hot. Replaced the solenoid and no more shutter. Was super strange to not get a solenoid code for so long.

My tranmssiion is in limp mode (2001 mk4 volkswagen golf), I looked at this video and it really helped me. What I decided to do was change out the whole valve body including the wiring harness. I made ther switch and then fired the car up and it still gives me codes P0753, P0763, P0773, P0758. Any solutions to my problem even after swapping out the valve body which would be all 7 selenoids and the wiring harness?

would this testing have worked if you let the car run for some time and then test the OHM by removing the harness connection from the top and testing the solenoids as you did at the end?

How much did you charge for the service? Asking because i have 2011 VW Jetta SE and it’s giving me a code for shift solenoid “A”. My car is in limp mode and won’t shift. I’m looking for someone to work on it but don’t have that much money.

I am having this issue now with my 2001 TDI beetle 01M However, mine is the DTC valve 7. It says open circuit. However, it passes the ohm tests every time. pins 1 -10 62 ohms. The connector is clean, shiny pins, and receptacle. I guess the next step is to remove the computer, and check the harness all the way from computer, down to the solenoids.
Any help would be appreciated.
