You know, this may be as perfect a song as ever was written. The beat matches the theme, the story is great, and you feel like you are a part of the ride.

I love trains, and this song not only reminds me of traveling via train, but it's the most beautiful song I ever heard ❤

I hopped trains. Never knew there were anthems. So I love this song. I just did it. High Rail Red taught me, I just did it.

How can a song be so immortal? I just heard a train on the west tracks this afternoon, about a 3/4 mile away. It made me miss things I've never known. But every time I hear a train, kindly cared for with a clarion warning to all that it is coming through town, I know I can sleep.

I can really identify with this video, the song and the scenes are amazing. I lived in New Orleans, and loved every bit of my time there (1959-65). Behrman High School.

I was brought up in a house that sat 50 yrs away from the Erie-Lacawanna RR. I used to watch the passenger trains coming through from Buffalo and parts From further west.. I couldn't go to sleep at night without at least one freight go by to shake our house and rock me to sleep.

I come from hillbilly stock, from a tiny town situated in a huge Appalachian national park, my hometown having predated the establishment of that park and the whole national park system.

Hillbilly towns, especially those whose boundaries cannot expand, so growth is restricted, force their overflow out by whatever transportation is available; for these rural areas, that means trains.

My hometown had a station on the Cardinal Line. Come the 1950s, family members took that train northeast to Baltimore and northwest to Indianapolis, where family still live. Back in the Depression Years, my grandfather hopped freight cars from West Virginia to my hometown to woo my grandmother. The railroad was one of his great loves.

There's a reason so many bluegrass and country western songs feature rail travel.
