The National Hurricane Center says hurricane and storm surge watches have been issued for parts of Florida's Gulf Coast, including the Tampa Bay area, ahead of Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine which is expected to become the season's next named hurricane.

The NHC issued a cone Monday showing where forecast models expect the system to move. The Tampa Bay area is within the cone of uncertainty.

PTC 9 is expected to "strengthen significantly" over the next few days, becoming a hurricane by Wednesday. When the system gets a name, it'll be Helene.

I'm in panama city. I went through Michael and the following weeks were pretty rough. Mexico beach was practically obliterated. It was coming straight for us and turned east at the last minute.

Are we all watching the same video? It clearly shows on screen and the meteorologist says that the landfall if forecast as a Category 3 storm...yet there are multiple comments claiming this video says it is going to be a 1 at landfall...the video says and shows no such thing.

Cayman Islands still under tropical storm warning. A lot of rain and wind, king tides causing flooding in other low line areas across Grand Cayman.

Thank you for the timely update on Tropical Storm Helene. It’s crucial for everyone in the affected areas to stay informed and prepared. I recently created a video discussing some safety tips and resources for those facing storm conditions. Every bit of information helps, and I appreciate the efforts to keep the public updated during such critical times.

Strengthening in the "Atlantic Basin"? No, that would be the Gulf of Mexico, not the Atlantic Ocean.

too bad your Gov turned down 11 billion in infrastructure money playing politics, but he has no problem asking for emergency funding AFTER disaster has struck, the infrastructure didn't hold up and the people of Florida suffer. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure
