what I will say is if you actually have surface scratches on your paint, using a polisher will remove them better. It will look identical at first glace when compare to applying by hand but that's only because of the fillers that are inside the SRP. once the wax comes off after a few months, along with the fillers all your scratches will come back. SRP is only slightly abrasive so you will only remove maybe 10% of the scratches and swirls on the paint by hand whereas if you used a machine polisher it will actually remove most of the swirls, permanently. In that instance, it gives massively different results.
I think SRP is a fantastic product but I also think of it as a temporary fake polish as the fillers make you think you've removed the scratches when actually 90% of them are still there and will come back and be visible again.

Nothing wrong with taking the time and just do it by hand. Allways great result with this product. Never the risk of damage the paint .

I done the autoglym training course about 30 years ago and was taught to use a machine polisher both with radian wax, (the same product as super resin Polish just in the trade size 5L tin) and with fine abrasive for deeper scratches. SRP can be used by machine but like all other products with care, but not necessary unless you've got scratches or faded paintwork, then the machine does a very good job instead of using a fine cutting compound.

I prefer by hand for the simple reason of keeping that clear coat at think as possible. With the machine it is very easy to cut deep into the clear coat .. in some cases I’ve seen enthusiasts who polish on a regular basis cutting straight into the base coat.

It’s an art!

Nice and easy to watch demo on both ways to apply a very good polish. Thanks.

I've actually never used this product by hand, always with a machine. Don't know if there is any difference in the results. But by machine it's just much faster. Those are legit reasons why autoglym doesn't want beginners use machines, But i would say this is a good product for beginners to learn. Because it's pretty easy for your paint. Of course you can burn your clear coat with a machine, but that can happen with any polish.

I had to restore the white paintwork on a Berlingo van that was very rough. I used a machine with Turtle Wax Colour Magic and finished with a Lambs Wool bonnet on the machine. It came up great. I could never of done that all by hand. It took all day.

Great video! I always apply Autoglym super resin polish by hand (post machine / compound work) and have always had fantastic results! Thanks for taking the time to demonstrate.

I applied this polish to my Silver FType yesterday, fantastic results. It's the first time I've polished the car in 3 years by hand as I'd normally just wash it over with wash & wax, however there were quite a few tar spots on the doors and skirts so needed to remove those using Auto Glym tar remover, this left several noticeable streaky marks on the paintwork, after I'd hand polished the car these streaks had totally gone, it was hard graft but I'm totally happy with the product and my FType and its paintwork look like new.
The only thing that would concern me using a polishing machine would be heat generated and going over sharp body creases, I would not wish to cut right through the paint etc so I'll stick with polishing and buffing by hand even if it's the long and hard way.

thank you for this. Just wondering, which one is easier to do? ie less effort & less energy & less time consuming.

How do you prep the panel for a ceramic spray without removing the polish fillers? Should I even bother doing a panel wipe? Thanks

I pretty much agree with you. The only time when its really worth using the DA, is when its experssively written on the instructions to use it. Example the Menzerna Power Lock sealant work excellent with a DA. There is one BIG downside to it however: i got it on my rubber lists on my MK7 GTI Clubsport - Not Fun! Cant get it of now! Well i use a better wax now. The excellent Bilt Hamber Finis Wax, and i do it by hand much less risk for any residue getting stuck on the wrong places. Aware your talking polish & me wax, but we both know it dosent really matter. Good products is what does, and the freedom to work the way that fits yourself the best. Nice video mate! 👍

All other products I use Im fine with using bare hands (when I forget gloves or run out because Royal mail shipping cannot be relied upon)
Using AutoGlym SRP. My hands dry out and my skin falls off like Im a lepper. If I splash some on my arm and dont notice (like I did last week) I end up with a red sore where the splash was.
I dont know whats in SRP but my skin isnt a fan. That makes me not a fan either.

Perfectly okay to use your hands! works better if you ask me, buffers tend to get rushed, just take your time and it will look fine!!!

I’ve just bought a da polisher with some Scholl s20 black and hexlogic green pads.
I’ll be honing my skills this weekend with it for the first time on the wife’s car first then when I’m happy I’ll do mine 👍

Gr8 video.
It certainly looked like the machined area you did was much deeper and glosser than the non machine side..
