I think an extremely underrated aspect about Mel Brooks is that he was an incredibly talented singer and performer as well as being an actor and director. You can tell the guy has been involved with and has an appreciation for theater and broadway.

Years ago, John Morris, who wrote the music for this wonderful film, called me to contract the singers. We had such a blast that day! Singers love to have a line or two to say besides just singing. A chance to be fully hammy. It’s Jan 7 2023 and it’s so fun to see this again after 42 years!! And Mel was an utter delight to work with
