Make sure the engine is running with the transmission in park when checking the fluid level.

Tip: Take a pair of zip ties and tie the gasket on both sides of the pan. This will make sure the gasket will stay in place. Once you have a few bolts in place, cut the zip ties and pull the off.

Great video. One of the first things I do is get the engine trans warm with a quick drive. Then remove the filler bolt and drip stick right above the pan. With the fluid warm, I'll use my drill pump to suck out as much fluid as possible right into a catch pan. Then remove the pan with very little to no spilling of fluid. When time to refill I again use a drill pump to get the new fluid into the trans.

7.5 quarts for drain & fill. Only use Motorcraft LV. Check level while running in park while level. When you first fill it, it will overflow at about 6 quarts, then start it up and put in another 1.5 quarts and check while running.
Only use Motorcraft LV

Very helpful I’ve ran this truck hard since purchase with 6k miles and it has 55k miles now and starting to feel sluggish and I was told these transmissions were non serviceable the fill plug was all I needed to find now I can service the transmission thanks

Transmission bolt socket size 8mm, Dipstick cap wrench (mine was size 18mm, some are 19mm), refill 4 quarts, start in park for a few seconds, shut off, add another 3.5 quarts, restart, check fluid while running in park.

I like that you don't do a lot of unnecesary chatter. You can make it less messy when removing the pan by sucking out some of the fluid with a cheap 12 volt fluid transfer pump aval online. Just remove the dipstick and stick the suction pump tube and proceed to suck out most of the fluid.

Wow I didn't know there was a dip stick for this transmission. Finally I might change the fluid and be able to check the fluid level😃

I did my 14 n very little mess following the guidance. I did find a neat way of adding the fluid. I now have a oil pan bolt to drain from on mine 👍👍

Thank you for this great video. I wish I knew why Ford and possibly other manufacturers made transmission fluid change so difficult. No drain plug in the pan, no dipstick that doesn't require you be a contortionist. just seems crazy. My question is isn't there still old fluid in the lines somewhere when you do this change, doesn't anything else have to be flushed out?

Highly educational video, besides the Mercon LV isn't 4 and the lack of amount Mercon LV used for refill. Thumbs up!

how many miles do you need to change the fluid?

With All Due Respect, You never mentioned the "Reusable Gasket" unless of course you're not a fan of them ? I only realized this after watching a few other videos on 6R80 Tranny Fluid, Filter & Gasket Change/Replacement. As for myself, I just learned something new as I never knew such a gasket existed & can be cleaned with just a cloth ( avoid chemical cleaners that could potentially ruin rubberized Bead & Breaks around Gasket) & then reused.

Ive got over miles on my 2013. I think I gotta change the diffs, transfer case, and transmission oils.

The filter should snap in place with the neck seal otherwise it could loose prime ?
