Great explanation.
Massaging the Y pipe down is a huge time saver. PRO Demand states to remove the cats/y pipe assembly 😂. And run the risk of exhaust leaks from removing a rusty exhaust component. I used my scan tool under the truck running in park until transmission temperature reached 95 degrees F then took the level check plug out. Worked great. Temp spec for level check is 95 to 113 degrees if I remember correctly.

I really appreciate this video didn't even realize you needed a pump to remove the fluid and replace it.

Great video and explanations. I just did my 2016 GMC All Terrain stock 20” tires. My truck had started shuddering at 60k miles, but all my mileage is highway. I do all my mechanical work and after watching your video, it was a piece of cake. My pan came out easily, slid right out without loosening anything and I reused the original gasket after completing the cleaning and new filter. All pan screws were torqued as you explained, 7 qts out, 7 in, but I drilled a 1/2 hole on top of quart bottle cap and just changed from one bottle to the next using the Harbor Freight pump. Did the gear shifting then took it for a few mile drive, runs great.

Thank you so much for this video!!! I was experiencing that hard/stuck shift bump really bad, and after reading the ASM about the fluid, was going to take it to the dealer to do the service. A nice day, music and time on my hands will save me SOOO much money!!! Thank you once again!!🙌🏽

Hey Danny, I changed the filter and fluid yesterday (10 Aug 23) on my 2017 Yukon (Denali). (30K miles) My filter was sightly different with a seal I also changed (this vehicles filter had no metal clip on top & had a longer tube - no big deal) I used 7 quarts of the Mobile 1 blue label full synthetic ATF LV HD. I didn't have the shudder in 7th or 8th gear that some reported (higher mileage typically) but I had the bump when slowing down between 2nd and 1st gear. Verry happy to say it is gone as others have stated. Cheers.

Just finished my transmission service on my 2016 Denali. Ran into an issue removing pan, and broke off the clip in the J solenoid valve. You definitely need to pry exhaust cross over down as shown when removing pan. I found it easier if I moved gasket off pan to reduce thickness at crossover. Same when reinstalling.

The replacement solenoid part took 3 weeks to obtain. There must be a lot of issues removing pans!

Also, when starting engine, I threw a series of codes. Truck would only drive in 2nd gear. Read codes with my code reader and thought new J solenoid was defective- however, after shutting down and restarting, codes cleared. Whew!

Truck is now running great! This video was very helpful!

Excellent video! I have a 2017 Yukon XL Denali and I’m going to change my filter and fluid with a higher level of confidence than I had before watching this video!

Just did this fluid swap on my c7 corvette with the same trans. OMG the diff is amazing!! Car only had 39k miles but was having hard shifts and shuddering in gears 5/6/7. This INSTANTLY took all of that away. I was skeptical I can’t lie. The new fluid is much improved!

I only got 6 and 1/4 qts out of my 2018 Centennial Silverado with a 6.2L. 6 and 1/4 went back in. I didn't have to use the pry bar on mine, pan came out with no issues. Pain in the rear accessing them heat shield bolts though. Great video.

I’m going to try the pry bar method next time I do mine. Just did mine yesterday and could not get the pan completely out. Wiped the debris off the magnets as best as I could and pushed most of the fluid out. Put 7 qts in and it started coming out of the top fill hole. Heated it up to around 100 degrees and let the excess drain out.

Very informative. I changed the trans fluid/filter on my 82 f150, and I’m thinking about doing it for my 2015 Tahoe. This vid helped get over some of that fear of messing up lol

Great information here. If you have 8L90E transmission problems, changing the fluid (blue label) is only a temporary fix @ best!!! Which is contrary to what the dealer will tell you. These transmission are a junk.
