Finally got around to changing the fluid for the second time in ~25K miles on my 12 Focus. I changed it previously at ~27K miles when I first got it, car has ~51K miles on it now. Really glad I did because I discovered the top vent tube was completely removed from the transmission and oil seepage on the top of the transmission. Not sure if I accidentally disconnected the transmission vent tube when I had the air-box out or how long it had been disconnected. Regardless, only about 1.6 quarts came out when drained, and it looked really brown compared to the golden color of the new Ford fluid. I replaced it with ~1.8 quarts of the recommended Ford fluid.
Glad I didn't wait another 10K miles like I had previously planned. I drive hard sometimes and fluid changes are cheap insurance against failure.

Sooo many videos I have seen here in youtube. But this one shows you can fill from the top. I was taking left front tire out to fill the DCT fluid. More simple from the top. Very helpful.

Thanks for the vent tube. I was able to do the first service of this transmission on my 2018 focus. I've put every single mile on this car as I'm the original owner. 150k miles and still going strong. On a side not ive only neglected it this long as I never knee about it until a few thousand miles ago.

Tried to get mine changed at a Vavoline Instant Oil Change. They said it would have to be done at a dealership since they don't have the fluid (I guess). This looks so simple.

Edit: I own a 2019 Ford Fiesta SE Hatchback. Just paid it off four months early.

I just purchased a 2015 Focus with 63, 000 on it. I don't know If the last owner changed the transmission fluid or not since I do not have any contact. I guess the best bet is to change it myself just to be sure

You do not have to take off the LF tire. Place car on ramps. Using a T-50 socket and a 6" swivel extension and 1/2" ratchet or breakerbar break the drain plug and check/fill plug loose and immediately retighten them both. Take car on highway for 20 minutes to heat up the fluid. Place on ramps. Remove the transmission vent tube completely. Drain fluid into pan. Now remove check/ fill plug. Allow to drain completely. Install drain plug and torque to 35 lb. ft.. Slowly add 2 quart of Motorcraft Dual Clutch fluid into the vent tube opening. Allow all fluid to drain from side check/fill opening. Install and torque plug to 35 lb. ft.. Clean and install vent tube and clean check/fill area with break cleaner. Drive and check for leaks. DONE 😊
