I like both, but would give the nod to Mid90s.

I understand the comparison to the Kids and how it's different. But Kids was very realistic IMO. I grew up in and around those sort of people. Mid 90's is brilliant, but I found Kids very compelling too. Mark must remember that it was written by Korine who was about 18 at the time. He wasn't far removed from that world at all.
The characters in Kids aren't as likeable as in Mid 90's but I don't think that's a flaw. That's just how people are and how the story is told. I found Kids to be extremely realistic. It was refreshing to see that kind of realism. Maybe I'm biased because as a teen, that was my world.

Kids was written by someone who not only WAS a kid but was in the exact type of life that was portrayed. Mid90's was written undoubtedly by an outsider looking in with zero actual experience in what they were writing about for the most part. I don't know, I didn't much care for it. Meandering and unconvincing in the worst kind of way, unlike Kids.
