After this video I flashed the BIOS which fixed a problem with the CPU Voltage and I was able to set the CPU Clock to 4.9Ghz, CPU Voltage (Manual) to 1.295v, TurboBoost Enabled, manually set each Core's Turbo Value to 4.9Ghz. Hyperthreading, EIST, Speedspeed Disabled, CPU Current to max allowed (safe, it'll only use what it needs) All Turbo Limits Disabled.

Unbelievable. I followed the steps for both the BIOS And windows 10 on my ThinkPad laptop, restarted and went back to one of my problematic Cubase sessions, Where I previously had to freeze all my plug-ins and run through hoops to make it work.. And boom! It’s like I now have a brand new machine! I cannot possibly thank you enough for this. You’re the best 🤘

Thank you ever so much for this video, David. I used the same BIOS settings beside of turning of the Hyper Threading since Studio One has no issue with HT. The S1 performance meter shows only half the resource consumption and is stable now. No more CPU spikes. Awesome!

Great tutorial. I expected just simple windows services and startup tips because that's the video everybody makes when giving optimization tips, but you know your stuff.

13:19 This just solved my Headache with Ableton Live. I had it enabled all this time. I Couldn't figure out how I could drag and drop. Disabling it, fixed it for me. Thank you. 👍💪

I'm just starting your 'recording, mixing + mastering hip hop' course - finally. Pro-Mix Academy membership helped. Many hurdles overcome to get to this point, but finally got there - Lol. I know I'm gonna get lots out of it, guaranteed!

Thanks for this! I just went from W7 to W10 so that was very helpful. I also hated the W10 start menu at first. Then I realised it was very customisable, you can remove everything you don't want and put any shortcuts you want. It's actually pretty good!

KUDOS to you for making such critical info available to DAW users in an understandable form. I have a similar system to yours and it NEVER goes online other than to install upgrades direct from the vendor site. I don't install any unnecessary software as it is a dedicated studio machine. One thing I would suggest if using the machine online for browsing is to use BRAVE free browser as using Google browser puts any machine at risk not to mention the personal info you are giving up. GREAT WORK!!

Weird question, but what computer keyboard are you rocking? I've got a custom PC on the way next week and need to pick up a new keyboard!

Thank you so much for all these tips - in particular the BIOS settings which I had completely over looked. My 200+ track orchestral template in Cubase now runs like I have just upgraded my PC with all the previous CPU clipping completely gone. (I have a 9th gen intel i5 going from base clock of 3.7ghz to consistant turbo mode of 4.6ghz).

XMP Profiles (or DOCP for AMD) no only are safe, they're absolutely necessary for the RAM to run at the speeds their boxes say. I don't get why motherboards don't automatically enable those profiles.
Also, why don't you like hyper-threading?

Although I do not use PT any more (Cubase), there was one trick commonly used in gaming I used to do if the multicore was not spread even in a session and that was to disable core Zero (first core), this then spreads the workloads and leaves core zero to be used by Windows. You do this by setting affinity in the task manager on the PT process, it resets itself the next time u boot up PT...

Awesome video man. you're a lifesaver. I'm running pro tools on a DELL XPS 9500 2020. Unfortunately for me its overheating on minimal power (brand new and DELL not returning my calls yey), so doing all these tweaks might increase the overheating... either way i did almost all the things you mentioned and will see what will happen this week :D Let it burn, i need to drop some tunes before that \m/

Thank you very much for your masterclass! Please could you tell me if you had CPU spikes only when you solo tracks (or unsolo)? If you had, did you find a solution for that? I have the same processor, Win10, 64GB RAM, tons of power, but I only have spikes (and PT stops) only when I solo a track. All the best! Thanks again!

good video
The reason why you couldn´t apply other peoples settings is because every single CPU is different and different quality even if it´s the same model.
Disabling hyperthreading can give you more single-core performance and that gives you less latency or more plugins to run on one core. Especilally on tdp and shitty cooling limited devices like my laptop with i7-8750h it made a big difference.
