How To Mix Quikrete Concrete In A Wheelbarrow

Показать описание
Using the right amount of water when you mix Quikrete, or any other type of concrete, is extremely important. Use too much water or too little, and the concrete will be brittle and prone to cracking.

It takes 3 quarts, or 3/4 of a gallon, of water per 80 lb. bag of concrete.

Add the dry mix into your wheelbarrow or mixing tray first, then add water slowly. I typically add about 3/4 of my water first, mix, then pour in the rest.

If you add too much water, add a little more dry mix to compensate. If your mix is a little dry and powdery, add water slowly.

The correct consistency should be like oatmeal, not watery or dry and powdery. If you see any powder at all, keep mixing.

To check if the consistency is right, pick up some concrete and try to form it like a snowball, if it holds form, the thickness is correct. But if it's too water or too dry, you need either more water or more dry mix.

To mix my concrete, I use a regular garden how with holes. The holes help break up the dry mix as you run it through the concrete.

I’ve done this in a wheel barrel and in a mixer. The cheap mixer from harbor freight is the best tool for the small jobs.

Thank you for this video. Some seem to think laying down the dry bags where theybwant the slab and spraying them with a garden hose in place is just fine....😂😂😂

Thank you! I didn't know that. Learning from "internet Dads" is better than nothing! 😅

Add most of the water first. It keeps the dust down and is easier to mix.

Depends on what you are using your concrete for. It's called slump. Concrete is guaranteed 2 things get hard & crack.

yes its true that too much water maybe bad for your concrete mix but more important is the ratio to thevsand & gravel... a ratio of 1:2:3:0.5 to achieve maximum strength. That is 1 part cement, 2 parts sand, 3 parts gravel, and 0.5 part water. ..

Well for those whoes been interested about this subject. In fact the water ration must be between this values w/c o.37-0.7 start with o.4 i a good start.Do not add full amount of water from the beganing and keep measuring it!😅

Mix quick Crete by eye. Nine times out of 10 whatever you’re using a bag of quick Crete for doesn’t need to be nearly as strong is 3600 psi.

I’ve watched 1000 concrete mixing videos for absolutely no reason lol but I still never understood what was a good consistency to have when mixing the concrete in! lol the oatmeal line did it for me! You know how many bowls of oatmeal I’ve made lol 🤣
