10/10. Just had that, minus the truffle oil. Used normal cling film, salt pepper and sunflower oil - amazing!

Is cling film safe to cook with? I looked at the small-print on 2 rolls I had in my kitchen. One packet has words: "made from polyethylene", "100% non-toxic", "Do NOT allow film to come into contact with food while cooking". The other has words: "It is a polyvinylchloride film and conforms to UK and EU regulations for food use", "allow hot food and dishes to cool before wrapping", "avoid contact with food during microwaving". Both state they are not suitable for conventional ovens.
Neither sounds ideal. Are there other types of film that are more suitable?

I seen a you tube video on poaching an egg in a silicone cup cake mould. I tried it and it didn't work. The result I got was a cup cake shape boiled egg. If I wanted a boiled egg I would do it in its shell

I have worked in kitchens for 12 years and I have never seen a chef poach an egg like this.

What size eggs? Because with a large egg 4 minutes isn't enough.

"How to make the perfect poached egg????"

For poached eggs, it's quite a common practice by professional chefs. As for the cling film, it will not melt. In terms if it will causing cancer, that's up for debate by scientists. I'll go ahead and take the choice of convenience.

Yup the cling film method makes PERFECT eggs. The only think I wonder is how many kinds of carcinogens come out of cling film at that temperature? Does anyone know how safe this is?

For everyone saying that this seems toxic, most clingfilms are made to be deliberately non-toxic, even when used with hot water, because of their nature. They're made to be used with food both hot and cold.

I can see that this method has to be used if including truffle, but this looks false & completely unappetising on the plate to me compared with poaching the egg directly in the water. I also would not want anything cooked in clingfilm.

Is this not a coddled egg? The egg is never poached in the water.

truffles & truffle oil - expensive!

I can't believe this guy is actually a chef, just throw an egg in boiling water and then take it out 4 minutes later, poached egg. Fucking cling film!? Really?

This is not a poached egg. Poaching per definition is to gently simmer food in liquid. This is cooking an egg in clingfilm.

It may taste the same and look great, but it's not poaching. :)
