Murad III was born in Manisa in 1546 as the first son of Selim II and Nurbanu Sultan. When he was born, his father Selim II was still a Prince and his grandfather Suleiman the Magnificent was in the sultanate.
Sultan Suleiman, who lived a long life for a sultan, took a close interest in his grandson despite his old age. He even sent him to Aydın at the age of 15-16 to learn state affairs after completing his education.
