Wonderful lecture. 🎉 Thank you, Prof.Vaknin ❤️
When my parents died, I was 25 years old. "Mirna, you were an adult when your parents died".
NO. I was a teeneger with 25 years old. I keep saying it to my family, but anyone believes me .

Your interactive approach would keep any student engaged with the content you’re teaching no matter how long the lecture. Lucky for them :)

I learned so much from this lecture. I'm left wanting to learn more; especially curious about
the role play in the next lecture. Your students are lucky Professor!

(To contribute to psychology) "You have to be a human being. You have to observe, you have to resonate, you have to empathize, these are the tools of psychology. Psychology can never be a science" the idea of psychology as literature, which Prof. Vaknin mentioned elsewhere too, is crystallized in this comment. The converse insight here is that good literature, and perhaps good poetry, is good psychological insight. Before I took time to learn about the humanities, when my brain was mostly engineering, the psychological insight of Jorge Drexler's songs is what got me into music. Now I see how those songs perhaps had more merit than I thought even in my high praise of them, insofar as the discipline accommodates literature as a high standard for knowledge.

I hope you will adopt me one day, dear Sam Vaknin. The impact you had on me, with your honest opinions and deep analyses, have brought a sence of the world, people and understanding about myself and others. You have fostering me to great lengths. With your warmth, compassion and never ending longing for knowledge. My feelings are telling me that this is enough close to having a father. No one is perfect, but you are excellent.

I'm so curious about this course and what I can learn from you. I will make a wish for you to upload the rest of this course, or give me information on either how to apply to this course or if it's possible for me to join online and sit quite being a good girl as I probably doesn't have the right to interfere, even if I would like to 😊 I live in Sweden and will have a hard time to pay for the knowledge. But would like to know how to apply either way and make it my long term saving goal. I have listened hundreds of hours of your content the last year and psychology have been my favorite subject since I was very little as I had to understand my parents, their obligations and the dynamics of my family. I was on a mission to get enough insight to survive and began to search for answers as early as 9 years old when I finally got to use internet.

Thank you for everything. I'm so proud of you being so brave and resilient through out life. I know that even intelligent people like you suffer, even if often masqueraded behind the capability to rationalize. I know about it myself.

❤ My wishes is for you to feel the love for your self that you deserve and being proud of who you are no matter what might be left of those intrajects, planted by the people whose responsibilitie was to love you and keep you safe.

Super interesting.. I’m 19 years old and I’ve been watching every vid of u since i was 17. I really like ur vids on narcissists and psychopaths.. ive developed a rich fantasy life since childhood (got out of control at 16) so i suspect I’m a narcissist…. I’m definitely not a psychopath cause i have been mortified some times… I’m thinking of cold therapy if my life is falling apart but i understand it’s a risk to be diagnosed with NPD… But i wanna be again… and tbh i know that I’m not anymore

29:23 Sam, do you recommend watching the Kaspar Hauser film (1974) by Werner Herzog?

Professor Vaknin, can you recommend or do you have a reading list of books that should be read to achieve a base line education? I'm currently working my way through your excellent video playlists

I am following your channel for quite a few months now and I enjoy your very scientific explanations, but from this video I understand that the developmental psychology is a very new branch of psychology and naturally it is focused on the early stages of human life, but what about transformations that occur later in life? what about midlife crisis which is universally accepted phenomenon, but not in the science community. When will it be studied by developmental psychologists?
