I love watching the discussions between comedians in how they talk about the structure, content and nature of jokes. As Jimmy Carr points out at the of this clip, the joke is about - nothing - it's just a joke and as Tim Minchin makes clear; it plays on expectations. I happen to think that comedians happen to be among the more intelligent cohort in any society, but I haven't any data to back that up. I think the nature of comedy, especially those comedians who seem to have a great mastery over their language; tend to be a fairly skeptical and rational lot and not in the business of having too many sacred cows - almost anything and everything is fodder for a joke if they can make it work.
