How to Create Digital Signature in Word

In this video tutorial we will show you how to create a digital signature in Word.

This tutorial will show you how to create a digital signature in Word which is a good way to give documents an official standing.

Step # 1 -- Inserting a New Line

Start Word and load the document that you want to add a signature to. Here we can see that we have a letter and we are going to add a signature to the bottom of the page. We are going to want to place this between the closing and the name of the sender. Click the mouse to this location and insert a new line.

Step # 2 -- Inserting the Image of a Signature

You are now going to need to insert an image of the signature. This is something that it is probably best to scan into your computer. Navigate to the "Insert" tab and click the "Picture" icon. Navigate to where you have your signature stored on the computer and click "Insert".

Step # 3 -- Resizing the Signature

The signature will appear in the document and it will have a box around it that will allow you to resize it. Make the signature about the size that you would normally sign a document with. Here we are having to reduce its size a little. Once done, just save the document and that is how to insert a digital signature in Word.

FYI, there's another way to add digital signature in word itself. Go to insert -> shapes -> go to the Lines section -> on the far right, there's a line called "scribble". You can create free line and it's function like a pencil. I hope this helps

No need to be rude. The video gives simple and useful instructions and it was just what I needed to create (yes!) and insert a signature in a WORD document. The video already tells you to hit 'insert' and click the picture icon, so you do need a picture of your signature (duh!). I am no techie so I signed my name on a piece of paper, scanned it at the library and saved it to my usb drive. It was a pdf file (no good for this) so I opened my pdf file on acrobat reader and saved it as jpg. Now I had a picture. Well, the picture was a whole page (kind of of inconvenient), so I opened the file on adobe photoshop and cropped it to just the space covered by the signature. Saved it. Then I tested it on WORD and it was just great. Once you insert it in your WORD document, you can shrink it and enlarge it at your convenience. Fun and easy! Thanks!

No print/scan method - take a photo of your signature on white paper with your phone, edit the photo, turn the exposure way up so the background is as white as possible. Then save it, email it to yourself and save it as a jpg you can insert into the document. No printing required- I just did it and it worked great for me!

There is a difference between a digital signature and an electronic signature. This is a form of electronic signature. 
Digital signatures use cryptographic keys to ensure a document (and its signature) have not been tampered with.

You can open paint in Windows to write sure signature then save the file, and use the image file to insert in the word doc.

I can see a lot or sarcastic comments but for the purpose of what I required, it did get me on the right lines with my own experience. I had the signature on white paper, scanned it in, uploaded the pdf to picmonkey, cropped the image and saved as a png (which can be inserted onto a document and printed in any colour). For me, this gave me a good heads up. I dont want a secure button where someone has to digitally sign. So thanks for this.
