You could hear the hurt and frustration in his voice when you called to warn him. It’s probably hard for them to trust what anyone says over the phone after being taken advantaged of.

I work IT in a retirement community. I would absolutely love to share stories with you sometime. I understand how the social engineering tactics are effective. The fear the elderly live in from technology makes them vulnerable to suggestion. If we want to end this we have to educate them that their computer is like their house, you would not invite someone you don't trust into the home, you have to treat the computer that way and educate them on how critical it is to have a good trust relationship with anyone that provides computer services to them.

How these scammers become so despicable and cruel is beyond me, they must have had terrible traumatic childhoods to be able to hate and be so removed from humanity. They deserve nothing less than the worst life has to offer. I sympathise with their families and communities as their the ones who have to live with such dishonourable, untrustworthy, evil individuals. Keep it up Pierogi, you’re a beautiful human being 👍🇬🇧🇺🇸

I think the older gentleman you were trying to help has been warned against scammers by other scammers - and then scammed by those warning him. That's perhaps why he sounded wary and abrupt.

I love that you actually say things that the elderly would say. It makes me think of my late grandmother (even though its been a little over 20 years since she passed) and I'm glad you put up that act to get revenge for the elderly and other less fortunate people who do catch on to this as easily as others.

When you call victims tell them your You Tube channel, you’re a YouTuber and say right away you don’t want money. Ask them to have a child or grandchild verify your channel to the victim. That guy didn’t sound like he believed you.
