I Mailed a Scammer a Picture of His Face!

Scammers have a complex way of receiving cash from their victims. I went undercover and sent one of these scammers something else — his face!

Regarding gift card warnings. I needed to buy $500 in GC for a legit work event. The system required a manager to come over and read me a series of questions such as "did someone on the internet request I buy these for them?" etc. I liked that. Could really save someone some trouble.

I love how he's called enough scammers to know how they talk. Callers introducing themselves with "this side" is stereotypical scammer-speak.

Former UPS store employee. A man mailed $10, 000 cash. I did not find this out until a couple days later. When he came in and I asked him what he was shipping and he wouldn’t tell me. I suggested documents and he said yes, that was a Saturday. He came back Monday morning with a cop realizing he’d be scammed.

I love that you sent him his own photo and I can only imagine the look on his face when he opened his mail. Thank you so much… They’ve tricked my 90 year old grandmother a few times into giving her personal information, but thankfully she’s closely watched and we were able to catch it before money was lost.
