My uncle used to store them in a drawer full of sand. In the basement where it's really cold. He would do that with carrots. Potatoes & apples..

I’m old enough that when I went to Jr High (1974) I had a Home Ec teacher. You remind me of her. I used to think, “she is so smart.” I was glad to have had that class. Thank you for sharing. ❤️

My favorite memory of growing up is the box of apples that my dad would bring home with the purple tissue paper wrapped separately the paper always smelled so good.

I love Golden delicious apples! When I was a little girl we had a horse named April and anytime we had apples going bad we would feed them to her. Her favorite was the Golden delicious! 🤗❤️ Love this tip!

Thanks, I've been keeping them in plastic grocery bags. I will treat them better after watching this video.

My granny in Fresno, CA had rows of old wooden boxes set on slanted shelves in the cellar, not a basement like on the east coast, just a dug out place under the farmhouse. Each box was for something different, all cushioned with straw. I learned how
to braid onions, I was quite proud of myself till they started sliding out of the braid!
Every time I see you on YouTube, you make me so happy, causing all sorts of happy memories to come to play.
You are a Blessing! Thanks!

Newspaper can also be used to wrap apples, onions, carrots etc. Not so much waste 😊

Another great hack my husband and I both learned from our parents! 🥰 Well, we learned something similar, which is even cheaper, because you don't have to buy the paper: our parents and grandparents stored apples wrapped in between old newspapers (here comes every week a newspaper for free, it doesn't matter if the newspaper is a new one or several weeks/month old; but don't use one with a lot of colours in the print, only normal news), put into a paper or wooden box and stored them out of the sun on our balcony or in the dark and cool cellar. The newspaper layers and the box can get reused for several years, as long as it doesn't get damp, wet, mushy or begins to brittle. The apples lasted from august the whole winter long up until around easter; as we had a lot of apples like for example Granny Smith, Breaburn and Elstar we ate the last "winter-apples" around april. So, yes, well stored apples can last several month - theoretical, because sometimes they taste so good, that you just keep snacking on your apple stash ... 😉🤟🏼
