Oh how I loved Circe!! But I could never comprehend it by audio. I suck so bad at learning via audio. I almost always have to physically read a book.

I had the exact same thought on Iron Flame. Rushing it to publishing was a terrible idea. The back half seemed way less edited too!

we have so many worsts in common 😂 specifically had the same issues with both Iron Flame (ugh) but also Lovelight Farms! I wanted to love that one so much and I finally got around to reading it at the beginning of this month and was so let down. It was so frustrating to hear the main girl (dont even remember her name) was soooo adamant about the guy not returning feelings when he was ALL THE TIME- it just drove me crazy. Taylor Jenkins Reid is always a favorite of mine and Carrie Soto was the first one of hers that I just was meh about. With her other books, which I read years ago, the story stuck with me so much that I regularly think about those characters and the book itself, but I read Carrie this year and do not remember anything at all. Nothing stuck with me.

Definitely give Circe a chance and read it instead of listen. It has quite a dense prose that takes a while to get into/used to, but it is SO worth it!

I’m laughing so hard Emily Wilde and Family lore are two of my favorite books of the year 😂 I tried the song of Achilles and Circe and … Madeline Miller is not for me 😅

I think the trick with Circe is you also need to know a lot of Greek mythology to get a lot of the references and things that are happening. I really enjoyed going "Oh! That's this myth from her perspective."
