This isn't accurate. It's recapping a study on Moa birds from New Zealand, which concluded that the half-life is 521 years in leg bones. This means that after 1, 000 years, 75% of genetic information in a DNA sample is gone. Because it's a half-life, though, it would take 6.8 million years for all genetic markers to be virtually gone. That's also in one strand of DNA. This means that if you can gather massive amounts of DNA together and process them, it may be possible to get a mostly (or fully) complete strand of DNA by comparing all of the remaining information and assembling it together via use of computers. This would also be an excellent test for quantum computing.

I remember reading somewhere that some bones of dinosaurs were in transport from where they were found to museums, and they broke, but were found to have bone marrow inside. Would that still be viable for cloning?
