Learn how to remove the background from bitmap costumes in Scratch!
When you import a new bitmap costume in Scratch, you may notice that it has a background that covers up the rest of your project. Here's how you can remove it:
If the background of the costume is one solid color, use the Fill tool. Select the color menu, then select the red slash for delete. Click the solid color in your background, and it should erase your backdrop.
If you don't have a solid color behind your sprite or it leaves little specs behind, use the Select tool. Highlight large chunks and then press delete. Once you have the majority of the background deleted, zoom in on your sprite.
Select the Eraser tool and then erase the outside edges of your sprite. You can press the back arrow if you make a mistake and change the size of your eraser at the top of your screen to make it smaller or larger.
