How To Easily Remove Backgrounds In Photoshop

This beginner friendly tutorial will show you how to cut out an image in Photoshop. Many struggle to refine hair selections when creating subject masks, however this video takes you through the steps of how to remove background around lots of hair.

For this photoshop tutorial, I chose an image from a not ideal situation, demonstrating one method of cutting out hair from an extremely busy background.

While this may seem like advanced hair masking in Photoshop, it is relatively simple and most people should be able to follow along and learn how to cut hair in Photoshop.

Whether you want to change the background, or simply have a transparent background - you will be able to achieve this by following the steps in this video!

I had a big problem with the hair selection part. It was deselecting a large amount of the mask and ruining everything. I did some research and just before giving up, I found that there is one important detail missing and that is to be sure that you have the Refine Edge Tool selected! Mine had the Quick Selection Tool selected by default! It was very confusing! It may seem like a no-brainer, but it was nuts to not see the same outcome as you had!

I hope this helps some folks with the wrong brush selected by default!

I have opened a simple photo of a wooden chair. When I select Select > Subject, the dotted lines do not accurately select the subject. Is there any way I can change (drag?) the dotted subject lines to accurately select the chair?
