Supco MFD 10

In this video I show the Supco MFD10 capacitor tester and show how to check a capacitor. you will see what a shorted capacitor, open capacitor and a good capacitor within spec looks like.

I blew the fuse on MFD10 and also the resistor just after the fuse. Any chance anyone can tell me what Ohm the R10 resistor is?

Just another gimmick tool most HVAC techs don't need. Anyone with a good meter can do this just as fast. With a multi meter you can also test them under load which is the way I like to test them. Amps x 2650 then divide it by the voltage between common and Herm (compressor) and then do the same thing to test the fan side by changing the last number to volts between Common and fan on the cap. You never have to shut the unit off or pull any wires to do this method and testing under load is a more accurate measurement anyways.

Both original and replacement run capacitor are same 12.5 MFD 440/370 VAC but new replaced blower motor has 7.5 MFD listed . Still good ?

Haha, why not put the camera on what you are doing instead of a medium shot of YOU. Oh, and a good practice before connecting a capacitor to any tester is to first discharge the capacitor by shorting its terminals with a low value, high wattage resistor; also known as a bleeder resistor.

you did not show how to discharge them first!! someone could be killed.
