Canada election: Where do the political parties stand on reducing emissions?

Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole said Monday he supports building the cancelled Northern Gateway oil pipeline largely because it would provide Indigenous communities in favour of the project with economic opportunities.

Pipelines and climate change have predictably emerged as issues on the campaign trail ahead of the Sept. 20 election, with O’Toole trying to convince voters who are skeptical of the Conservatives’ environmental record that under him, the party takes the issue seriously.

Eric Sorensen reports on where political parties stand on reducing gas emissions to tackle the climate change crisis.

Will they be cutting the noxious gas emissions coming out of Liberal Party headquarters? Sometimes the stench is overpowering.

Who cares, our own people are starving and becoming homeless. How about we work on that.

I'm more interested in knowing where the parties stand on getting China to reduce its gas emissions.

I feel O'Toole is a pragmatic guy after hearing him. Trudeau just shoots numbers and goals for options that are not attainable or be achieved in a seamless transition.

These climate change platforms are incredibly silly. They really highlight our immaturity in objectivity and logic.

Our problems don't involve emissions

That’s like asking the torture victim in your chair whether they’d like to be pine-boxed or cremated. What about fundamental Canadian rights like free speech, right to protest, or privacy? What about inflation, the housing crisis, jobs? I can’t stomach this anymore, it’s like wandering around in a mental institute where the staff are completely detached from reality

Get this economy rolling. It can be so good for everyone across the country. Use our natural resources to transition into clean energy. Don’t put it all on the tax payer.

It’s nice to see that global news is taking climate change so seriously setting aside a full 2 minutes on the subject.

Why does the thumbnail for this video about climate change - brought on by carbon dioxide emissions - show cooling towers that emit water vapour only?
It couldn't be that Global News is so stupid as to not know the various functioning parts of the power plant?
Nuclear plants (arguably the best and greenest means of generating power) use cooling towers and they emit no carbon dioxide.
...then, of course, the video shows various chimneys emitting 'clouds' but they all seem to be water vapour and they are associated with heavy industry that Canada relies upon for wealth creation. The Green agenda is watermelon: green on the outside, red on the inside.

What does the green party say? Never mind forget I asked. Tell me what the Animal Protection Party wants to do to reduce gas emissions

carbon tax is a grift. Canada is one of the coldest countries on the planet and they want to carbon tax energy use? Carbon tax will work about as effective as showing a polar bear your business card so he wont eat you.
