2024 Mazda CX-50 Review

The 2024 Mazda CX-50 emerges as a subtle evolution from the CX-5, targeting those seeking a distinctive presence on the road due to its less common visibility compared to the highly popular CX-5, one of the country's bestselling SUVs. The CX-50, introduced in 2023, is designed to be Mazda's most rugged SUV, though it notably positions itself as the priciest option in the compact SUV segment without carrying a luxury badge. It distinguishes itself with a lower, longer stance, and marginally increased ground clearance, encapsulating Mazda's renowned aesthetic appeal through its crisp design. Key design elements include the familiar wide Mazda grille, thin LED headlights, and unique features for the turbo model such as special LED tail lights and classic-looking LED turn signals that mimic incandescent bulbs, underscoring Mazda's attention to detail and commitment to distinctiveness both inside and out.

Car reviewers/journalists always complain about the infotainment, but never take the time to actually learn it. When you have a car for longer than a week you'll be inclined to learn how it works. The rotary dial is actually really intuitive, the tuner Clifford is searching for is literally tied to your volume button. Not to mention there's controls on your steering wheel as well. All buttons can be pressed once or long pressed for a second option.

Mazda is the prime example of manufacturers being able to modernize the interior, WITHOUT slapping tablets everywhere on the dash and call it a day. So thank you Mazda for integrating your tech into interior design.

The rotary control is easy to use and much safer than a touch screen. My eyes are never off the road when I’m using it.

I have had mine for four months. Absolutely love to drive it. They could have done a better job on the sunroof but for driving, 10 out of 10.

Loved everything about it that we bought a CX50 Turbo early this year. We love it after 3000 miles!

Just picked up the 2024 CX-50 Premium. Very Pleased. It is solid and prefer the lower ride feeling. It has upgraded shocks and lighter steering compared to the 23' Model. Within 2 days, I found a coding bug. You can use the favorite button to add a radio station to favorites. Discovered you can add the same station multiple times. Ideally, should be limited to once. Also, instead of a delete a favorite screen action, it would be easier to hold down the favorite button to unfavorite a station, essentially a double click.

4:45 Still safer than any dedicated touchscreen, which has you looking away from the road entirely.
You really, really shouldn't be using Android Auto or Apple Carplay while driving. I'm shocked it's legal.
I just test drove a CX-50 and it took me about 4 minutes to figure out how the system worked. I have criticisms of this vehicle, sure, but coming up with a system that doesn't rely on a touchscreen strikes me as a plus, not a minus.

Which competitors have an 8-speed transmission? All those you named (except Mazda's own CX-5) have CVTs!

Bought a 2024 cx5 yesterday. Salesmen tried to sell me this. This sits lower and wider, looks more sporty. I found the seats in the cx5 much more comfy and I disliked that the middle arm rear in the back doesn’t hold chargers and doesn’t have a nook to put your phones in like the cx5

Every single review of the 2023 or 2024 CX-50 is the Turbo premium plus version. I own one but the 2.5 S Premium plus, which of course I love, except the rotary dial which I hate. My other car is an Audi Q8 S-line with 3 touch screens which I love...lol. Nevertheless 87% of these CX-50 models sales are the S 2.5 engine. Only 13% are the Turbo. Why I can't find any reviews of the popular model and all reviews are of the limited sales edition(s)? Just wondering.

Change the tires to MICHELIN CROSS CLIMATES and the noise will go away-- and they're great on ALL weather and especially rain and wet roads..

The rotary dial is actually better, once you learn it’s safer and can do it without looking really

Yeah, and a large touch screen is less distracting?. When you own the vehicle the rotary dial work intuitively, BMW and until recently Audi utilized a rotary dial.

Bought one today. Also own a MX-5 Miata, so I like the driving dynamics, even with the torsion beam rear. Also tows 3500lbs, which most of the small SUV's only tow 1, 500 lbs.

excuse me sir, but u r forgetting rotary or touchpads are far superior than toiuch screen when driving. I drive a car a car that uses a touchpad, it is so much easier to use rather than touchscreen, u are less distracted rather than bending over to reach it

Right now I have a 2022 Civic EX. While I do love it, I’d really like a Mazda! Won’t be for a couple of years. Need that panoramic sunroof and leather seats. 😊
