I think one part people don't take into consideration is Yoko's importance in the art world. she was one of the early adopters of the Performance Art movement and some of her seminal works influenced a lot of great performance and feminist artists like Marina Abramović

I don't even mind if "Yoko broke up the Beatles", since John was going in a different direction anyways. You can't expect a band to be together for over a decade without any individual changes

Most people only know her for the music stuff and her relationship with Lennon but she had other work before and after that

Shes partly responsible for some of John's biggest hits post beatles (she cowrote Imagine and John is on record for saying she should've been credited at its release) she is an incredibly thought provoking Avant-garde artist with heavy themes of interpretation and visualization in her work (which again brings us back to Imagine, a song thats literally all about doing just that) and also no she did not break up the beatles. She definitely didnt make things easier on them but her mere presence was not ever going to be enough to break them up, they fell apart for a lot of complicated reasons, the vast majority of which had nothing to do with Yoko.

Also can we stop this narrative that this comparatively minor artist was apparently powerful enough to destroy one of the most famous bands in the world and lead one of its most notable members astray into her weird art fantasies? Yoko did not manipulate John, she inspired him. For people who claim to respect these guys, Beatles fans seem to think John was both an awe-inspiring songwriter genius and also a manbaby incapable of making his own life choices. Its not just insulting to Yoko, its insulting to John. You can feel however you want to about Yoko as an artist, but to depict her as an evil dragon lady is just sexist garbage.

Her performance art is absolutely philosophically incredible. Her poems are incredible. She is an incredible artist. John was lucky to have been around an artistic genius.
