I started jiu-jitsu last year at age 59 and I never felt better. This is the best work out ever. I feel like I'm 35.

I want to do this! I've just turned 61 and have never been in a fight or altercation ever in my life, but have also never had the defence or skills needed should the occasion arise. I am 100% going to do this !!!!

Just started last year @ 65.. Better late then never!! I combine 3x week BJJ and Strength training 3xweek.. try to take a day off to rest/heal up but usually fit in some very light movement like a 2-3 mile walk.. Stay hydrated, maintain a good electrolyte balance, Keep the crap eating to a minimum.. I maintain a pescatarian diet. And add a few additional supplements help move things along..
So far so good.. I’m 6’1 198-205.. See how it goes.. Best of luck to you all.. “Git’some”💪🏽💯‼️

Great stuff. Greetings from Sydney, Australia, my name is john too. I started Bjj at 66 years old. Good on you for not giving in to old age but having the drive and courage to want to become more. I am with you for i know how hard it is being out classed by everyone in the gym - they are all much younger than i am. I am 70 years old, and a blue-belt now. We do not have to be a champ, or the best in the gym -- the fact that we are training this amazingly complicated and physically demanding martial art at our age makes us both amazing! Well done!🙏

I'm 58.. and just started Jiu jitsu. It's the best thing I've done for myself in a long time. I just earned my first stripe and that was a great feeling.

"When Jon's not hurt." That pretty much summarizes it as we get older as an athlete. My number one advice for life. Stay fit!

Hope your still rolling, we need more old guys on the mats, 63 year old blue belt and still charging. You got it exactly right, diet wise. 👊

this guy is inspirational! You all are, I think at 33 I finally found somewhere I could fit in and love being part of. Too bad Jiu-Jitsu isn't more recognized.

I started at 53, I'm the oldest in our academy, which is a new academy. I love to practice with younger people, it drives me. Of course nobody expect me to perform like a male in his 20s, who started training at 5, they just expect me to give it my best effort. Nobody goes easy on me because I'm older and a female, nobody assumes that if I can't do something it's because I'm "old", like in karate where my age was always brought up by the "sensei" (?!). I love BJJ, yes, sometimes I'm frustrated, or sore, or tired, but I never feel disrespected or not valued, what's not to like?

Started at 55, been training six months. At first just one day a week, now I get itchy if I don’t show up for every class. Videos help but the best training is getting my ass kicked on the mat and learning from mistakes.

If you want to be pain free, ditch the veggies and eat a meat based diet.

I'm 66. That "When John's not hurt, he's here twice a week." Not hurt. That's what I'm worried about.
