Chester, PA WORST Areas At Night Time

Chester, PA is one rough place. Abandoned homes, businesses, AND it's considered to be one of the most dangerous cities in Pennsylvania. Poverty is upwards of 3 times the national average, violent crime is terrible, and with a population of about 33,900 people things aren't great. Much of this is due to the industrial collapse many decades ago, and it simply hasn't recovered yet. Let's take a drive and check it out.

As someone who lived in Philly for 14 years, there are parts of Philly you don't go to at night. And then there's Chester, where you never go, ever. I once had to take a detour off I95 at 2am through Chester and it's the most afraid for my safety I've ever been. It's sad that people are forced to live in such unsafe and dilapidated places, we as a country are really failing so many people.

Went on a drive about a year ago. Wanted to go towards Philly. Unbeknownst to me, I drove through Chester and even stopped at the one convenience store. This was around 2 or 3am. Thought it looked rough and it was quite eerie. I wondered why a car didn’t stop at a red light I stopped at, probably in the interest of their safety in this neighborhood. Was glad to be safe once I found out later on that Chester is a very dangerous place.

Most of the U.S. doesn't even know places like this exist. Forgotten towns and neighborhoods. It's really sad.
