InSight is scheduled to launch from the California coast to the plains of Mars on May 5, 2018. This is the first launch to another planet from the West Coast. A whole new region of the country will witness the start of an interplanetary journey when InSight soars into predawn skies.

In this Hangout, we will get an update on the status of the Mars InSight Mission, including a summary of what InSight will do once it arrives on Mars from Jonathan Grinblat and Emily Manor-Chapman from JPL. We will also discuss the instrumentation and aerospace innovations required to study the deep interior of the Red Planet.
