Down in Florida they call those long tongs houndfish or needlefish. Usually they're filled with worms unedible but great for bait.

You know Australian jetties are overfished when you can't catch fish as quick as you are on that jetty... It's sad to see how netting is still allowed to that extent. Keep up the great work brother!

So, how was the barracuda?

There is a lighter colour type, slightly yellow. That tasted no bad, firm flesh. Cut into slices, fry with turmeric or used in hotpot soup.

The grey variety doesn't taste good. When I was in the kelong (fishing house over the sea), the grey barracuda would be sliced in half and dried with salt, hang there for weeks.

Needlefish is really common in Taiwan so most of us are unhappy to see them on our hook lol.They'll scratch your front wire badly.
Btw we also call them "autobike" because they'll RUSH on the surface when they are hooked
