This is a great throwback to contrast the Spidey-Parade scene earlier in the movie. Instead of the bombastic marching band playing the OG spider-man theme to indicate Peter's inflated ego, and high-fiving as he swings past. It's a modest and empowering moment as he's not playing around, he's there to get the job done. He remembered what it means to put on the mask.

Scenes where the people of New York support Spidey like this always give me chills. Whether it’s this scene, Spider-Man 1 when the civilians are throwing garbage at Green Goblin from the bridge, or the crane operators opening a clear path to Oscorp tower for him in The Amazing Spider-Man. Just fantastic scenes.

I love this because the crowd has no idea that he knows the hostage they just think he’s diving headfirst in to a suicide situation just because he’s Spider-Man
