Mr Biggie Size, Thank you for posting this. We take of of our neighbors mower for him and it began slipping badly. The pulley was badly worn so we replaced it and the bearings. It was still slipping. Found you video today, adjusted it and now good as new.

New OEM belts and spindles last fall. Slipping to almost a stop going up inclines. Tightened this linkage 2 weeks ago and apparently still having slippage. I didn't think of letting of on the pedal to see if it would hold at the lower "gear"/pulley diameter. Wife said it later gave up on reverse. Guess I'll be back at it tomorrow. Thanks for taking the time to post, I figured making the tensioner more tense was a good start. :D

I’m wondering if I don’t need new spring(s) bc that or a 45 in belt for my 46 Troy-built. Can’t seem to get it tightened without taking whole thing apart which I refuse I know but just Get so tired of watching 13 minute videos involving a gluten free beer promote can from Joe smoe garage ect wasting my time to see he’s not showing me anything but this I liked even if it doesn’t help it’s one thing new to me to try straight to the point loved that cause I watch videos while I’m trying to get it going in the hot sun so this guy is a lot better and quicker prolly subscribing to him if he has more videos for future..

My 2012 Craftsman LT2000 has the same setup. Problem I had was the mower travel speed got slower over the last three years or so. I replaced both drive belts and there was no improvement. After studying the pulley system awhile it occurred to be the linkage you adjusted was too long. I shortened it twice about a quarter inch each time. Now it flys and no slipping. If I get in tall grass I have to back off the pedal a little so as not to bog the mower down.

Thought I'd share my situation in case someone benefits...

I have a "Foot-Pedal-Controlled Automatic Transmission" TroyBilt Model #: 13WX78BS011. Was mowing along and needed to reverse for a few feet. Shifting back into forward, it would not move forward. Backed 'er all the way back to the house and felt around underneath by the rear wheels to see if anything felt loose or disconnected. I discovered a bit of pine cone caught in the F/N/R linkage near the transmission. Once I removed that, back to normal.

Apparently, this piece of debris was waiting to fall into place where it would obstruct the shifter. When I put 'er in reverse, it dropped in and blocked the linkage from being able to go back into Forward.

Note to Troy Bilt: cover this connection up so lawn debris cannot get in there thus rendering the transmission useless.

Did your fix work the slipping? Did it help with the mower pushing when you held the brake?

Question for you on this I just replaced the drive belt and it wants to go before I even step on the gas, would backing off on this rod well this stop or prevent the mower from going before stepping on the gas? I have not found any other videos about this issue.

Can anyone help? I have a 7 speed troy bilt, i guess it is automatic because i have to change the speed by the yellow lever. Yesterday the spring broken that is near the motor while i was mowing and then it would not go forward or reverse. It took me a while to find the broken spring. Replaced it today but now it will only go in 1st gear, If you put it in 2nd through 7th it still only goes as fast as 1st gear. Can anyone tell what i did wrong. Is there a specific thing i have to do or pull before i attach the spring back to wear it goes, like take it off the brake then connect spring or put it in 7th first then connect the spring? Thanks for any help. Mine is a troy-bilt pony 7 speed and i guess automatic and purchased it around 2011. thanks

the real issue is worn belts and they have to be changed as a pair to return to new operating condition. its like adjusting the emergency brake cable on a car with worn out brakes. if the emergency brake wont hold the rear shoes are worn out. fix it right .

I have a 2012 Troy bilt bronco 42” deck mower. Replaced lower drive belt and also deck belt. The mower drives in forward and backwards at a very slow speed. PTO and motor crank perfectly. But with the pedal all the way down, throttle turned up to rabbit. It still moves very very slow. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

You misinformed a ton of people watching this, because the mower isn't suppose to move when you push the pedal. You let off the pedal to make it move in whatever selected gear it is in.

If that's how you run your camera, I wouldn't let you take my mowers picture let alone work on it
