Gordon Lightfoot Carefree Highway HQ with Lyrics in Description
Показать описание
Track 8 from his ninth album "Sundown" released in 1974 copyright Reprise Records. It was recorded at Eastern Sound Studios in Toronto and was his only release to reach No. 1 on the Billboard chart. Both singles reached the Top Ten, including No. 1 for "Sundown" and it seems that Gord was always capable of coming up with perfect songs that became massive hits every couple of albums. The production by Lenny Waronker is excellent and I'm sure the advances in technology for recording equipment, even in those analog days, was a part of that. It's just amazing. It received excellent reviews and reached No. 13 in Australia and No. 1 in the U.S. and Canada. It achieved Gold status in a few months and was certified Platinum in 1986. Written by Gordon Lightfoot and produced by Lenny Waronker. RIP Milt Holland, Red Shea, Cathy Smith, Jim Gordon & Gordon Lightfoot. Featuring:
Gordon Lightfoot - Lead vocals, six & twelve-string acoustic guitars, high-strung guitar, chimes, bells & background vocals

Pickin' up the pieces of my sweet, shattered dream
I wonder how the old folks are tonight
Her name was Ann and I'll be damned if I recall her face
She left me not knowin' what to do
Carefree highway let me slip away on you
Carefree highway, you seen better days
The mornin' after blues from my head down to my shoes
Carefree highway let me slip away, slip away on you
Turnin' back the pages to the times I love best
I wonder if she'll ever do the same
Now the thing that I call livin' is just bein' satisfied
With knowin' I got no one left to blame
Carefree highway, I got to see you my old flame
Carefree highway, you seen better days
The mornin' after blues from my head down to my shoes
Carefree highway let me slip away, slip away on you
Searchin' through the fragments of my dream-shattered sleep
I wonder if the years have closed her mind
I guess it must be wanderlust or tryin' to get free
From the good old faithful feelin' we once knew
Carefree highway let me slip away on you
Carefree highway, you seen better days
The mornin' after blues from my head down to my shoes
Carefree highway let me slip away, slip away on you
Let me slip away on you
Carefree highway, I got to see you my old flame
Carefree highway, you seen better days
The mornin' after blues from my head down to my shoes
Carefree highway let me slip away, slip away on you
