When I was about four years old my father brought home a giant pile of lumber and, from scratch, built us a swimming pool in the back yard. Once it was set up he ran speakers out to the pool from his stereo so we could have a little music while we splashed around. While in later years we played pop radio out there, early on it was all my dad's music. He played this song often.

Now I'm old and my dad's been gone for many years. But for the rest of my life I will associate this song with summers swimming in that pool, that my father built with his own two hands. R.I.P., Dad, and R.I.P. Gordon Lightfoot.

And now the sun goes down on one of North America’s greatest treasure. Rest well, Mr Lightfoot. We may not always have you; but we’ll always have your music.

I am 26 years old, African of origin, living in France... I am very passionate about pop music like the 70s-90s. I know several singer-songwriters like Paul Anka etc... I know very beautiful songs, but today Thursday May 15, 2025 at 5:30 a.m., I think that thanks to a film, I have just discovered one of the most beautiful compositions of all my young age. wow... the worst I am French-speaking but just listening to a bit of this music in the film, I was like having a call to come and listen to it in full. this song is a masterpiece. I am writing my comment and I have tears in my eyes... RIP great artist, and thank you for this master class🔥❤

50 year old here. My mother played this when I was a baby. Each time it comes on it takes me back to a time before everything turned weird. And it still sounds awesome.

I was born in the 60s grew up in the 70s & 80s. This reminds me of the easy days growing up w my mom. Just hanging out me and her, great days! A covid filled nursing home took my mother from me but music like this helps me remember the good. The world sucks now!!

Its a mellow vibe that has a catchy and mellow tune that gives you a very good vibe...I love music like this... The majority of music today is lacking something that the old ones seemed to get..
Gives you a catchy vibe that most music of to day is just missing...this was one of my favorites and it still is today this is one of those I cant resist listening to!!!! As one person said life was so much simpler then than it is today!!!

Would be wrong for a 29 year old from Southern Africa to fall in love with this jam. I used to be a hard-core hip hop head, now I just love the 70's.

I'm in my mid-sixties and this song takes me back to a day when life was simple. My buddies and I played outside until we were called to come home. RIP, Sir. Your songs will live with me as long as my heart beats. Thank you.
